If you are helping look after a parent, most of the mental load is just remembering things: medications, appointments, forms, follow-ups. All four tools now have a way to dig into something once or keep checking on it for you, instead of you carrying it all in your head. A few of these need a paid plan, noted below, but you can still ask the same question by hand for free either way. One serious caveat: never treat an AI answer as medical or legal advice. Always confirm anything about health, money, or benefits with a real doctor, pharmacist, or advisor.
Claude: run several searches at once with Research

Claude’s Research mode runs several searches on its own and pulls them into one answer with sources, instead of you searching around yourself.
- Click the plus sign in the lower left of your Claude chat.
- Select Research from the menu. A blue indicator confirms it is on.
- Ask your question, like “compare in-home care agencies near [city] and what Medicare actually covers.”
- Claude runs multiple searches and gives you one answer with sources you can check yourself.
When to reach for it: before a big decision, like choosing between assisted living options or understanding what a new diagnosis actually means. This needs a paid Claude plan (Pro, Max, Team, or Enterprise); without it, you can still ask Claude the same question, just without the multi-search research mode.

ChatGPT: put reminders on a schedule with Tasks

ChatGPT can check on something or remind you about it on a schedule, so you are not the only one keeping track.
- Open the Scheduled section in the ChatGPT sidebar, or just ask directly, like “remind me every evening to check that Mom took her medication.”
- Set how often it should happen and roughly what time.
- Confirm it. ChatGPT shows you a card with the scheduled details.
- Adjust how you get notified under Settings, then Notifications.
When to reach for it: for the recurring stuff that is easy to forget: a daily medication check, a weekly call reminder, a monthly bill due date. This needs a paid plan (Plus, Pro, Business, or Enterprise), and tasks cannot run more than once an hour.

Copilot: hand off a recurring job with Copilot Tasks

Copilot Tasks lets you describe a goal in plain language and have Copilot handle it, on its own or on a schedule, instead of walking it through step by step.
- Open Copilot and go to the Tasks view.
- Describe what you want done, like “email me a weekly summary of Dad’s upcoming appointments.”
- Choose to run it now or set it to repeat.
- Check in on the results as they come in. Copilot shows you what it did before treating anything as final.
When to reach for it: for something you would otherwise have to remember to do yourself every week. This feature is in preview and tied to a paid Copilot tier rather than the free version, so check what your plan includes before counting on it.

Gemini: set a recurring reminder with Scheduled actions

Gemini can run a prompt on a schedule you set, daily, weekly, or monthly, and let you know when it is ready.
- Go to gemini.google.com.
- Type your request with the schedule built in, like “every Monday morning, remind me to refill Mom’s pill organizer.”
- Submit it. Gemini confirms the scheduled action.
- Manage it anytime under Settings and help, then Scheduled actions, where you can pause, edit, or delete it.
When to reach for it: for the small recurring things that fall through the cracks, a weekly refill reminder, a monthly check on a benefits deadline. This needs a Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription (or a qualifying Workspace account), and you can run up to 10 at once.
